Jharkhand News : On the 24th day of the students’ agitation, the Jharkhand government took a major decision to cancel all JPSC-JSSC examinations conducted by TDPL. The decision was taken at a special Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Monday. The government also decided to cancel the CGL examination conducted by JSSC.
Chief Minister Hemant Soren said after the meeting that the Cabinet had decided to cancel the 14th JPSC PT examination along with the backlog examinations for 2023 and 2025. He said the government stands with the students and took the decision after considering their demands.
Irregularities Reported in CGL Investigation
Hemant Soren said the SIT and CID constituted to investigate the CGL examination have so far submitted findings indicating possible irregularities. He said a student caught in connection with the JPSC PT examination was also found to have a role in the CGL examination.
Based on these findings, the state government decided to cancel the CGL examination.
Committee Formed for JPSC and JSSC Reforms
The state government has formed a committee headed by IAS officer Amitabh Kaushal to recommend reforms in the JPSC and JSSC examination systems.
The Chief Minister said an SOP was already in place and that such a situation could have been avoided if the prescribed procedure had been followed properly. The government has also sought suggestions from the public on reforms, which will be incorporated later.
Government to Investigate Exams Held Since 2014
The Chief Minister said the state government has decided to investigate all examinations conducted since 2014 and action has already been initiated in this regard.
A committee of ministers formed by the government had held several rounds of discussions with the students over their demands. During these talks, a proposal was also made to have the CGL examination and other examinations investigated by a retired High Court judge. However, no consensus could be reached on the proposal.
The Cabinet meeting subsequently decided that the CGL examination would also be cancelled.

The examinations conducted by TDPL include:
- 14th JPSC Civil Services PT Examination
- Jharkhand Eligibility Test (JET)
- Assistant Public Prosecutor Examination
- Inspector of Factories Examination
- Civil Judge Junior Examination
- Jharkhand Forest Guard Competitive Examination
- Jharkhand PGT Examination
Special Assembly Session Over Mines and Minerals Act
Chief Minister Hemant Soren also announced that the state government would soon convene a special session of the Assembly over amendments.
