Jharkhand News : A pickup vehicle carrying cattle overturned in the Mayurhand police station area of Chatra district early Saturday morning. Fifteen cattle died in the accident, while 3 to 4 others were reportedly injured. The driver and cleaner fled the spot after the incident.

The accident took place at around 4 am near Panchmo forest, beyond Husia Bazar, on the Chatra-Hazaribagh main road. The cattle were reportedly loaded into the vehicle in excess of its capacity, with their legs tied. The pickup lost control and overturned by the roadside, trapping several animals underneath the vehicle.

Villagers Rescued the Trapped Cattle

After the accident, local villagers reached the spot and worked hard to pull the cattle out from under the overturned vehicle.

The villagers alleged that the animals were being transported in an inhumane manner. Efforts were made to provide treatment to the injured cattle.

Police Seize the Pickup

Mayurhand police station in-charge Rahul Dubey reached the spot with a police team after receiving information about the accident. The injured cattle are being treated with the help of veterinary doctors.
