Jharkhand News : Chief Minister Hemant Soren chaired the 4th board meeting of Siddho-Kanho Agriculture & Forest Produce State Cooperative Federation Ltd (Siddhcofed) at the Jharkhand Assembly on Wednesday. The meeting discussed strategies to enhance farmers’ income, promote local products, and strengthen training and marketing systems.
The CM emphasized that Jharkhand has immense potential in the agriculture and forest produce sectors. The state government is committed to providing farmers with modern technology, quality seeds, improved irrigation, and market access. He highlighted that timely payment for crops will boost farmers’ morale and ensure their economic empowerment.
Soren also stressed the need for conserving water resources and maintaining check dams, suggesting that local committees or farmers’ groups manage these structures to ensure accountability and ownership.
He instructed officials to develop a special mobile application and local agricultural portal to allow farmers to digitally share crop updates, required inputs, and market information. This initiative will help farmers get better prices and up-to-date market knowledge.
The meeting also focused on enhancing the production, processing, and marketing of Jharkhand’s unique forest products like Lah, Imli, Kodo, Kutki, Chironji, Mahua, Karanj, Silk, and Tasar. The CM stressed that initiatives like Kisan Pathshala and video-based training modules will equip farmers with modern agricultural methods and value-addition techniques.
Board members reviewed various schemes, programs, and budgets for fiscal years 2025–26 and 2026–27. Agriculture Minister Shilpi Neha Tirkey, Chief Secretary Avinash Kumar, and other senior officials were present.
