Jharkhand News : Jharkhand is set to witness a fresh spell of cold from Wednesday, with a noticeable drop in temperatures across several districts. Weather officials have forecast a change in conditions due to the arrival of cold northerly winds, which are expected to lower both daytime and nighttime temperatures.
According to the India Meteorological Department, the maximum temperature may fall by 2–3°C, while the minimum temperature could drop by 3–5°C in the coming days. This is likely to bring back early-morning and late-night chills across the state.
Snowfall in hills to intensify cold
Meteorologists attribute the change to an active western disturbance affecting northwestern India. Snowfall in the hilly regions and rainfall in some areas are expected to push cold air masses southward, reaching Jharkhand within the next couple of days. As a result, sudden cold conditions may prevail at night, with a persistent chill during mornings.
Relief for now, but not for long
At present, Jharkhand is experiencing relatively mild winter conditions. Daytime sunshine has kept maximum temperatures between 26°C and 30°C, while minimum temperatures range from 8°C to 13°C. In several districts, including the capital Ranchi, minimum temperatures are currently above normal.
On Tuesday, Ranchi recorded a maximum temperature of 26.2°C and a minimum of 13.2°C. However, this relief is expected to be short-lived as colder conditions set in midweek.
Weather authorities have advised residents to prepare for colder mornings and nights, and to take necessary precautions as temperatures continue to fall.
