Jharkhand News : A contract worker died after sustaining serious injuries in a workplace accident at the project premises of Patratu Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (PVUNL) on Sunday.
According to the company, the incident occurred at around 11:15 am in the material yard of M/s S.K. Samanta, an agency working under BHEL. The deceased has been identified as Mukesh Prasad Sahu, a contract worker engaged at the site.
PVUNL said Sahu reportedly lost his balance after feeling dizzy while on duty and fell into a nearby drain, suffering critical injuries.
He was immediately provided first aid and shifted to Medica Hospital in Ranchi for advanced treatment. However, despite the efforts of doctors, he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
Expressing grief over the incident, the PVUNL management conveyed its condolences to the bereaved family and said it is committed to extending all possible assistance to them during this difficult time.
The company has initiated a detailed inquiry into the circumstances leading to the accident. It said further action will be taken in accordance with safety protocols and administrative procedures following the outcome of the investigation.
