Sports News : Indian all-rounder Deepti Sharma has become the second-highest wicket-taker for India in women’s One Day Internationals (ODIs), surpassing former Indian cricketer Neetu David.
The milestone came during the opening match of the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup 2025, played at ACA Stadium, Guwahati, where India faced Sri Lanka. Deepti first dismissed Sri Lankan captain Chamari Athapaththu, followed by Kavisha Dilhari, marking her 142nd ODI wicket—eclipsing Neetu David’s tally of 141 wickets.
She then went on to remove Anushka Sanjeewani, pushing her total to 143 wickets in 112 innings, solidifying her place in Indian cricket history.
India won the match by 59 runs, with Deepti’s key contributions playing a pivotal role in the team’s victory. Her performance once again showcased her value as a consistent match-winner for the national side.
