Humanitarian gesture brings relief to homeless amid biting winter chill
Jharkhand News : Amid severe cold and chilling winds, when most of the city remained indoors, Manjunath Bhajantri, Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Magistrate of Ranchi, stepped out late at night to understand the plight of the needy and provide them much-needed relief.
For people forced to spend their nights under the open sky, this initiative came as a ray of hope. At Karbala Chowk and the Ranchi Railway Station premises, the Deputy Commissioner personally distributed soft and good-quality blankets among the homeless, elderly, women, and other vulnerable sections of society.
The sense of comfort and relief visible on the faces of the beneficiaries spoke volumes about the impact of this humanitarian effort. Many expressed gratitude and satisfaction, thanking the state government and the district administration for the timely help. Several beneficiaries said that in such harsh winter conditions, the blankets were nothing short of a lifesaving support.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Manjunath Bhajantri said that protecting people from the cold is not just an administrative duty, but also a moral and humanitarian responsibility.
“Our aim is to ensure that no one suffers due to cold. Reaching out to the most vulnerable sections of society is our top priority,” he said.
The district administration has been continuously carrying out blanket distribution drives during the winter season so that government care and compassion reach even those at the farthest margins of society. This initiative stands as a living example of sensitivity, empathy, and humane governance.
