Since FY24, Project Aarogya has benefited more than 2.3 lakh people across VISL’s operations in Jharkhand, Goa, Karnataka, Odisha, Maharashtra and Gujarat, improving access to healthcare in rural and remote areas. During the same period, VISL employees, workers and business partners voluntarily donated more than 3,500 units of blood, strengthening lifesaving healthcare support systems.

Sharing his experience, Ajay Kumar Mahto, a beneficiary from Kasi Tola, Alkusha, said doctors from Vedanta visit the village twice every month, providing free medical consultations and medicines. He said the initiative has ensured timely treatment for seasonal and common illnesses while making quality healthcare accessible without any cost to villagers.

A key component of Project Aarogya is its Mobile Health Units, which provide doorstep healthcare services. Equipped with qualified medical professionals and basic diagnostic facilities, the units offer primary consultations, early diagnosis and basic treatment, helping reduce travel time and healthcare expenses for rural families.

At ESL Steel Limited, Bokaro, the Mobile Health Units currently serve 27 villages in and around the plant. These services are complemented by mega health camps, specialised gynaecology camps and menstrual hygiene awareness programmes.

The company also participates in the Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (PMTBMBA) through the Nikshay Mitra initiative by providing nutritional support to tuberculosis patients. In Jharkhand, more than 1,200 TB patients have benefited from the programme since FY24, reinforcing the company’s focus on nutrition, recovery and long-term care alongside medical treatment.

Marking Doctor’s Day, Vedanta Iron and Steel Limited paid tribute not only to doctors but also to nurses, paramedics, frontline healthcare workers and community partners whose dedication continues to make healthcare more accessible, inclusive and compassionate across rural India.
