Jharkhand News : ESL Steel Limited successfully concluded its 55th National Safety Month, reaffirming its commitment to embedding safety as a core organizational value. The month-long campaign revolved around the theme “Engage, Educate & Empower to Enhance Safety,” highlighting the company’s continued efforts to promote a proactive safety culture.

The celebrations began with an opening ceremony at Palash Ground, where senior leadership, management committee members, department heads, and employees gathered to mark the occasion. The event featured a traditional lamp lighting ceremony and safety flag hoisting, symbolizing the company’s dedication to maintaining high safety standards across all operations.
A key moment during the inauguration was the administration of the Safety Pledge. Employees collectively reaffirmed their responsibility toward safe working practices, discipline, and accountability, setting a strong foundation for the initiatives that followed throughout the month.
During the campaign, ESL Steel rolled out a series of interactive and impactful programs aimed at enhancing awareness and encouraging behavioral change. Initiatives such as the Roko-Toko Campaign, safety exhibitions, fire safety training sessions under corporate social responsibility (CSR), and Safety Chaupal discussions helped engage employees at all levels. Quarterly gate meetings were also conducted to strengthen communication with workmen on safety-related issues.
To boost participation and enthusiasm, the company organized creative competitions including quizzes, poster-making, poetry, and meme contests. Innovative activities like the One-Day Safety Officer initiative, safety-themed treasure hunts, and open forums on accident prevention encouraged employees to take ownership of safety practices.
Specialized training sessions focusing on Working at Height Safety and Confined Space Permit Systems further enhanced practical knowledge and preparedness among workers, ensuring safer on-ground operations.
The closing ceremony was attended by senior leaders including Ravish Sharma, Deputy CEO and Whole-Time Director, along with other top executives and department heads. The event celebrated the collective efforts made throughout the month and recognized employees and workmen for their contributions to promoting workplace safety.
Speaking on the occasion, Ravish Sharma emphasized that safety goes beyond systems and machinery, focusing instead on people and their behavior. He highlighted that achieving Zero Harm requires individual responsibility and a shared commitment to protecting one another.
He also underscored the critical role of leadership in driving a strong safety culture by leading from the front and ensuring that safety practices reach every level of the organization. He concluded by reinforcing that safety should not merely be seen as a rule but as a value integrated into everyday life.
