Jharkhand News : Panic gripped parts of Hazaribagh district after a firing incident targeted the residence of a displaced leader early Wednesday morning. The attack took place around 4:30 am in the Hesabera locality under Urimari Police Station limits.
The house belongs to Dasai Manjhi, Barkagaon block president of the Adivasi Students’ Union and a displaced leader associated with the Birsa Project. According to initial reports, masked assailants fired 6–7 rounds at the house before fleeing the scene, leaving behind an extortion note.
Local sources allege that the attack was carried out by the Rahul Dubey Gang as part of an extortion attempt. Following the firing, fear spread across the Hesabera settlement, with residents remaining indoors.
🚓 Police Recover Evidence, Probe Underway
Upon receiving information, Urimari police station in-charge Ratthu Oraon rushed to the spot with his team. Police recovered empty cartridges and the extortion note from the site. A detailed investigation has been launched, and security in the area has been tightened.
Police officials said that in recent days, several coal traders and prominent businessmen in the region have been receiving extortion calls. Investigators are linking this firing incident to the same extortion network.
🏍️ Abandoned Bike Found Near Damodar River
Meanwhile, an abandoned motorcycle was recovered on Wednesday morning near the Chhath ghat route along the Damodar River in the Sayal area. Police are examining whether the bike was used by the attackers during the crime.
Search operations are underway, and raids are being conducted at suspected hideouts. Police have assured that those involved will be arrested soon. The incident has once again raised concerns over extortion and criminal activities in the coal belt region.
