Jharkhand News : The Annual Sports Festival 2025 of Saraswati Shishu Vidya Mandir, Dhurwa, Ranchi concluded today with great enthusiasm and grandeur.

The closing ceremony was graced by Sanjay Seth, Hon’ble Member of Parliament from Ranchi and Union Minister of State for Defence, Government of India, as the Chief Guest. The programme was also attended by distinguished guests Brahmaji Rao, Hon’ble National Minister, Vidya Bharati Akhil Bharatiya Shiksha Sansthan, and Shivani Kumari, National Athlete, who motivated and encouraged the participating students.
The ceremony began with the lighting of the lamp and floral offerings. The introduction of the Chief Guest, distinguished guests, and other dignitaries present on the dais was given by the school Principal, Lalan Kumar.
The Chief Guest was welcomed by Mahavir Singh, member of the Shishu Vikas Mandir Committee, with a shawl, memento, and sapling. The distinguished guests were welcomed by committee members Lal Ashok Nath Shahdeo and Satyanarayan Pandey in a similar manner.
Presenting the report of the Annual Sports Festival, Sports In-charge Shri Vikram Kumar informed that a total of 92 events were conducted during the festival, with participation from more than 1,492 students.
Addressing the gathering, Akhileshwar Nath Mishra, Hon’ble Minister, Shishu Vikas Mandir Committee (Jharkhand), said that Saraswati Shishu Vidya Mandir, Dhurwa has always focused on the all-round development of students. Along with academics, students of the institution have consistently excelled in sports. He also acknowledged the continuous support of Hon’ble MP Sanjay Seth in the past and present and expressed hope for continued cooperation in the future.
All winning participants were felicitated in the presence of the Chief Guest, distinguished guests, and other dignitaries. Along with sports, several cultural and stage performances were also presented during the closing ceremony.
In his address, Chief Guest Sanjay Seth said that the nation is commemorating the 150th birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda in 2025 and recently observed 26 December as Veer Bal Diwas. He highlighted the vision of India performing excellently in the 2030 Commonwealth Games and hosting the Olympic Games in 2036, under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He emphasized that India is continuously progressing in the field of sports and that athletes need constant encouragement. He also set a target to make Ranchi the cleanest city in the country by 2026.
It was also mentioned that student Vagmi won a Gold Medal in the Jharkhand State Karate Championship and a Silver Medal in Martial Arts.
Addressing the audience, Shri Brahmaji Rao, Hon’ble National Minister of Vidya Bharati, stated that the education imparted by Vidya Bharati is multidimensional and deeply rooted in Indian philosophy. Education, he said, should aim not only at earning a livelihood but also at holistic social development. Quoting Swami Vivekananda, he remarked that a healthy body is essential for acquiring knowledge and that participation in sports builds confidence and cooperation. According to him, participation is more important than winning.
Distinguished guest Shivani Kumari, National Athlete, shared that sports have played a crucial role in shaping her life and encouraged students to consider sports as a career to bring pride to society and the nation.
A captivating presentation of Jharkhand’s popular Nagpuri dance by the secondary section students mesmerized the audience, beautifully showcasing the fragrance of Jharkhand’s soil, greenery of forests, and the charm of nature.
The two-day Annual Sports Festival 2025 formally concluded with an official declaration by the Chief Guest. The Overall Championship Trophy was awarded to Birsa Sadan, while Keshav Sadan secured the second position and Tilka Manjhi Sadan stood third.
The vote of thanks was proposed by S. Venkata Raman, Hon’ble Treasurer, Shishu Vikas Mandir Committee. The programme concluded with the singing of the National Song “Vande Mataram.”
The event was attended by several members of the School Management Committee, including Shri Shaktinath Lal Das (President), Dr. Dhaneshwar Mahato (Joint Secretary), Mahavir Singh, Amarkant Jha, Lal Ashok Nath Shahdeo, Narmadeshwar Mishra, and Balram Upadhyay.
