Jharkhand News : A major road accident in Gumla district on Thursday morning left five people dead and two others critically injured. The collision occurred near Bhadgaon under Bharnu police station limits on NH-23, when a high-speed Hyva rammed into a pickup van from the front.
According to preliminary information, the victims were travelling from Ranchi towards Gumla to sell tilkut (a sesame-based sweet). They were reportedly working under a tilkut contractor and were on their way to a fair/market when the Hyva, allegedly out of control, crashed into their vehicle.
The impact was so severe that the pickup van was completely mangled, and several passengers died on the spot. Two of the deceased were said to be from Basaria village in Keredari, while the others were reportedly residents of Ranchi. The deaths have triggered mourning in the affected areas.
🚑 Police Rush Victims to Hospital, Injured Referred to RIMS
After receiving information, the Bharnu police reached the spot and began rescue operations. The injured were initially taken to Sisai Referral Hospital, and later referred to **Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences due to their critical condition.
Police have launched an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the crash and are collecting details related to the Hyva driver and the vehicles involved.
