Jharkhand News : Two suspected members of the Rahul Dubey gang were injured in a police encounter in Jharkhand’s Hazaribagh district on Saturday morning. The exchange of fire took place in the Giddi police station area after police received information about the presence of criminals linked to the gang.
According to the information available, the two suspected criminals were shot in the leg during retaliatory firing by the police. A third associate allegedly managed to escape by taking advantage of the darkness and nearby forest.
Police and Gang Members Exchange Fire
Police had received information about the presence of criminals allegedly linked to the Rahul Dubey gang in the area. Acting on the information, a police team launched an operation in the Giddi area.
During the operation, police came face to face with the suspected criminals. On seeing the police team, the criminals allegedly opened fire, prompting the police to retaliate.
Two Suspected Criminals Injured
During the exchange of fire, two suspected gang members sustained gunshot injuries to their legs. Police took both injured men into custody.
The injured suspects were given primary treatment before being shifted to Hazaribagh Sadar Hospital for better medical care, where their treatment is continuing. Police are also verifying their identities and checking their criminal records.
One Suspect Escapes Into Forest
Another alleged gang member managed to flee from the spot by taking advantage of the darkness and the surrounding forest. Police have launched a search operation in the area to trace the absconding suspect.
Police vigilance has been increased in the Giddi police station area and nearby locations following the encounter. Raids are being conducted at possible hideouts in an effort to arrest the fugitive.
Investigation and Search Operation Continue
Police are also trying to determine whether the criminals involved in the encounter were preparing to carry out a major crime or were wanted in connection with another case.
Police officials said the entire matter is being investigated. Potential evidence recovered from the encounter site will also be examined, while the operation to arrest the absconding suspect has been intensified.
Police believe questioning the two injured suspects could provide important leads about the Rahul Dubey gang and its other members. Search operations are also continuing in forested areas as police work to trace the gang’s network and its other associates.
