Hotels, Lodges and Pet Dogs to Be Registered by JNAC

Jharkhand News : The Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) has decided to initiate the registration of hotels, lodges, and pet dogs in its jurisdiction to strengthen revenue collection and improve civic management.

A review meeting on the current status of revenue collection was held under the chairmanship of Krishna Kumar, Deputy Municipal Commissioner, JNAC. During the meeting, revenue generated from various heads was reviewed point by point, and officials were directed to ensure collections in line with set targets.

Focus on fairs and market fees

Expressing concern over revenue from fair (sairat) and market fees, Krishna Kumar said there is significant untapped potential to increase municipal income under these heads. He instructed concerned officials to conduct regular inspections of fair sites and markets to make fee collection more transparent and effective.

Mandatory registration of hotels and lodges

The meeting also reviewed the status of hotel and lodge registrations within the municipal area. The Deputy Municipal Commissioner emphasized that under the Jharkhand Municipal Act, registration of all hotels and lodges is mandatory. He directed officials to launch a special registration drive at the earliest to bring unregistered establishments under the legal framework and prevent revenue loss.

Pet dog registration to begin soon

It was further decided that the registration process for pet dogs in the JNAC area will also be started soon. Officials said this step will not only boost municipal revenue but also help improve urban cleanliness, public health, and safety.

Krishna Kumar directed all concerned departments to work with better inter-departmental coordination and ensure that assigned targets are achieved within the stipulated timeframe. He stressed that strengthening revenue collection is essential for providing improved civic amenities to residents of the urban area.
