Jharkhand News : Independence Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and patriotic spirit at Upgraded Middle School Govindpur, Mandu, on August 15. School Headmaster Dr Sunil Kumar Kashyap hoisted the National Flag and paid his respects to the Tricolour before extending Independence Day greetings to the students.
On the occasion, students presented ‘Vande Mataram’, captivating everyone present. The Headmaster said that the relevance of the song written by Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay continues to remain significant.
‘Vande Mataram’ Reflects Indian Identity
Dr Sunil Kumar Kashyap said that the history of civilizations, cultures and nations has often been subjected to continuous criticism by thinkers and scholars. He said that some scholars and critics from West Bengal have questioned the understanding of Indian history, while the breadth and acceptance of India’s historical consciousness remain significant.
He said that during the freedom struggle, several writers and creators highlighted India’s identity and cultural heritage. Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay held an important place among them.
Historical Significance of ‘Vande Mataram’
The Headmaster said that Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay’s famous song ‘Vande Mataram’ presents various aspects of Indian culture. Written in the 1870s, the song was published in 1881 in his renowned novel Anandamath.
He said the song subsequently became widely accessible to the people and was adopted by the nation as the National Song of India. Addressing the motherland through expressions such as “sujalam, suphalam” and “sumadhur bhashini”, the song presents Indian identity in a powerful and vibrant form.
