Irregularities in NHM Recruitment: 298 Contract Appointments Cancelled

Jharkhand News : The recruitment process for 298 contractual posts under Jharkhand’s National Health Mission (NHM) has been cancelled after serious irregularities were detected. Acting on the directions of the Chief Minister’s Secretariat, the Jharkhand Health Department has ordered a detailed inquiry into the matter.

According to official information, an advertisement issued on June 20, 2025, invited applications for contractual appointments to the posts of Senior Hospital Manager (39 posts), Hospital Manager (201 posts), Finance Manager (29 posts) and IT Executive (29 posts). The posts carried a monthly remuneration ranging between ₹41,000 and ₹60,000.

Allegations of unfair shortlisting

Several candidates complained that the selection process was manipulated and lacked transparency. It is alleged that many eligible candidates were deliberately excluded from the shortlist, while some ineligible candidates—who did not meet the prescribed qualification and experience criteria—were included.

In the scrutiny list for the Hospital Manager post alone, 29 candidates were reportedly excluded without valid reasons. Further controversy arose after a letter dated October 31 asked candidates to re-upload documents within a very short window of November 1–2, even though walk-in interviews were scheduled for November 3. This compressed timeline raised serious questions about fairness and due process.

Inquiry ordered, fresh recruitment likely

The Jharkhand State Health Mission Society has submitted a detailed report to Additional Chief Secretary Ajay Kumar Singh. Following this, the Chief Minister’s Secretariat sought an explanation from the HR cell and directed a formal investigation.

Officials indicated that, after completion of the inquiry, a fresh advertisement may be issued and the recruitment process restarted in a transparent and fair manner. The role of officials involved in the flawed process is also under scrutiny.
