The move follows directions from Chief Minister Hemant Soren, who recently instructed the department to expedite appointments to all vacant posts and ensure that the recruitment process is transparent and leak-proof.

Major Vacancies

Recruitment will be conducted for both technical and non-technical positions, including:

  • Assistant Engineer (AE) – 372 posts
  • Junior Engineer (JE) – 795 posts
  • Accountant – 180 posts
  • Lineman
  • Technical Assistant
  • Office Assistant
  • SBO and several other categories

Together, these positions account for approximately 3,347 vacancies.

Key Highlights

  • Recruitment for 3,347 vacant posts in JBVNL is expected to begin by November 2026.
  • Appointments will be made for Assistant Engineers, Junior Engineers, Linemen, Technical Assistants, Accountants, Office Assistants, and other posts.
  • The recruitment process has been expedited following directions from Chief Minister Hemant Soren.
  • Recruitment rules are being finalized, and administrative approvals are under process.
  • The appointments are expected to strengthen Jharkhand’s power distribution system by addressing manpower shortages.

Strengthening the Power Distribution Network

The state power distribution network has been facing a shortage of engineers and technical personnel for several years. In many areas, a single Junior Engineer is responsible for multiple substations and feeders, affecting power supply, maintenance work, and the timely resolution of consumer complaints.

Department officials believe that the large-scale recruitment drive will significantly reduce manpower shortages and improve the efficiency and reliability of electricity distribution services across the state.

According to officials, once the recruitment rules receive final approval, the hiring process will commence by November 2026. Following the Chief Minister’s directive to fill all vacant posts at the earliest, JBVNL has intensified its preparations for the recruitment exercise.
