Jharkhand News : The Jharkhand Cabinet on Tuesday decided to reduce the retirement age of doctors in the state from 67 years to 65 years. The decision was taken at a Cabinet meeting held at Project Bhawan. The meeting also approved CCTV cameras at all 606 police stations and the development of 100 new CM Schools of Excellence.
Cabinet Secretary Vandana Dadel briefed journalists about the decisions taken at the meeting.
The retirement age of doctors had been increased by two years during the COVID-19 period in view of the shortage and requirement of doctors.
New Rules for Contractual Doctor Appointments
The Cabinet also approved the formation of the Contract-Based Appointment Rules-2026 for filling vacant posts of doctors and specialist doctors in government hospitals and health centres across the state.
CCTV Cameras at All 606 Police Stations
The Cabinet approved the installation of CCTV cameras at all 606 police stations in Jharkhand. Around Rs 90 crore will be spent on installing the cameras.
100 New CM Schools of Excellence
Under the Adarsh Vidyalaya Yojana, the Cabinet approved the development of 100 additional schools as Chief Minister Schools of Excellence (CM Schools of Excellence), apart from the 80 schools already operating under the scheme.
An administrative approval of Rs 7.21 billion was granted for the initiative.
Medical Colleges to Get More MBBS and PG Seats
The Cabinet approved an administrative expenditure of Rs 3.93 billion for increasing the number of MBBS seats at MGM Medical College, Jamshedpur. The proposal also includes introducing new postgraduate subjects and increasing PG seats at the medical college. Approval was also given to sign an MoU with the Government of India.
For Shaheed Nirmal Mahato Medical College, Dhanbad, the Cabinet approved Rs 4.95 billion for increasing MBBS seats, introducing new postgraduate subjects and increasing the number of PG seats. Approval was also given for an MoU with the Government of India.
The Cabinet further approved Rs 2.7518 billion from the Dhanbad District Mineral Foundation Trust fund for upgrading SNMMCH College and Hospital from 100 UG seats to 250 seats and increasing PG seats from 16 to 50.
Other Major Cabinet Decisions
- Approval was given to modify the decision regarding the dismissal from service of Dr Shashi Bhushan Verma, a dismissed Mobile Veterinary Officer (Chalant), Lohardaga, following his conviction in fodder scam-related case RC 59(A)/96-Pat, in accordance with the Jharkhand High Court order.
- After lightning and heat wave were included in the list of natural disasters identified by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, the Cabinet decided to remove these disasters from Jharkhand’s list of specific local disasters.
- The Viksit Bharat-Rozgar and Aajeevika ke Liye Guarantee Mission (Gramin): VB-G RAM G (Viksit Bharat-G RAM G) scheme was approved for the state.
