Jharkhand News : Police in Jharkhand have uncovered shocking details in the murder of a 32-year-old man, revealing that his wife allegedly plotted the killing with her brother-in-law after maintaining an illicit relationship for nearly five years.
According to investigators, the woman wanted to marry her brother-in-law and saw her husband as an obstacle. To remove him, the duo allegedly hired contract killers and had the husband murdered with an axe.
What Happened
The incident took place on January 27 in Mangan Pipra village under the Mahagama police station area of Godda district. The victim was allegedly called home on the pretext of drinking liquor and then attacked.
Police arrested the victim’s wife Soni Devi (30) on Sunday. Earlier, on Saturday, two contract killers were taken into custody.
Brother-in-Law Still Absconding
Mahagama SDPO Chandrashekhar Azad said three people, including the wife, have been arrested so far. The prime accused—the victim’s brother Rohit Modi, with whom the woman allegedly had an affair for 4–5 years—is still absconding. Police teams are conducting raids to trace him.
Contract Killing for ₹1 Lakh
Investigations revealed that Rohit Modi, along with his friend Mohammad Shain, arranged a contract killer for ₹1 lakh. Shain then roped in his neighbour Vijendra Paswan alias Bido, paying him ₹25,000 as an advance.
After planning the murder, the accused purchased an axe. On Rohit’s instructions, Shain and Vijendra allegedly struck the victim on the head with the axe, killing him on the spot.
Confession and Recovery
Police said all arrested accused have confessed during interrogation. The axe used in the murder and other incriminating materials have been recovered. An FIR has been registered, and the accused have been sent to judicial custody.
The case has sent shockwaves across the district, highlighting a brutal crime driven by an illicit relationship and a planned contract killing.
