Jharkhand Rising in Sports, Says CM Hemant Soren

Jharkhand News : Hemant Soren said that Jharkhand is steadily progressing in the field of sports and the state’s youth are making the country proud at national and international levels. He was addressing the closing ceremony of the Baldev Sahu Memorial T-20 Cricket Tournament held at BS College Ground in Lohardaga.

The Chief Minister emphasized that the state government is committed to providing better infrastructure and opportunities to athletes. He noted that players from Jharkhand have made remarkable achievements not only in cricket and hockey but also in archery, football, and lawn bowls.

Dhoni Brought Global Recognition to Jharkhand

Highlighting the contribution of Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the Chief Minister said that his outstanding performance in international cricket has given Jharkhand a distinct global identity. He also praised the achievements of women hockey players from the state, who have played significant roles in representing India at the highest level.

New Sports Policy to Boost Talent

Hemant Soren stated that the government has introduced a progressive sports policy aimed at nurturing talent from grassroots levels. Under this policy, promising players from rural areas are being identified and provided with training, financial assistance, and improved facilities. He expressed confidence that Jharkhand will soon be recognized as a “State of Athletes.”

BS College Ground to Become Sports Hub

The Chief Minister appreciated the contribution of the state government and former Rajya Sabha MP Dhiraj Prasad Sahu in the development of the BS College Ground. He said the upgraded stadium will emerge as a major center for sports lovers and budding athletes.

Former Indian cricketers Virender Sehwag and Harbhajan Singh attended the event as special guests. The Chief Minister congratulated all participating teams and presented the trophy to the winners.
