Jharkhand News : A controversy has emerged in Ranchi during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll, with voters from the Hindpiri area alleging that applications were submitted through Form-7 to remove their names from the voter list.
According to the complaint, 34 voters residing in Part No. 226 of the Ranchi Assembly constituency were shown in Form-7 as absent or temporarily shifted. The voters, however, have claimed that they have been living at their permanent addresses for several years.
Written Complaint Submitted to Ranchi SDM
The voters have submitted a written complaint to the Ranchi SDM, seeking an investigation into the matter and action against those found responsible under the rules.
The complainants said they have been assured that the matter will be investigated.
According to the complaint, Form-7 was used during the SIR process to seek the removal of the names of the voters. It has been alleged that applications seeking the deletion of 34 names were submitted through BLA-2 Mohammad Yasin Ali.
Voters Claim They Still Live at Permanent Addresses
The voters said that all the people concerned continue to live at their permanent addresses in Hindpiri.
They have questioned the basis on which they were described as absent or temporarily shifted in the applications seeking the removal of their names from the electoral roll.
The complainants said that if the voters are residing at the same addresses and are regularly present in the area, the basis for submitting such applications should be investigated.
Action Sought Under Relevant Provisions
In their complaint, the voters have referred to provisions related to Form-7 and sought action under Rules 13(2) and 26.
The complainants said that removing a person’s name from the electoral roll is a serious matter. They have demanded that responsibility be fixed if there was any attempt to remove names by providing incorrect information or through a deliberate conspiracy.
The voters said the process has created concern among the affected people. They questioned why they were being described as absent or temporarily shifted when they are alive and have been living at the same addresses for years.
Administration Assures Investigation
The administration has assured the complainants that the matter will be investigated.
The findings of the inquiry are expected to clarify the basis on which the information was entered in Form-7 and whether the matter resulted from an error or an alleged deliberate attempt to remove names from the electoral roll.
