Jharkhand News : The two-day Jharkhand Tribal Festival 2026 commenced at Morabadi Ground in Ranchi on the occasion of World Indigenous Day. Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar inaugurated the festival as the chief guest, while Chief Minister Hemant Soren was also present at the opening ceremony.
The festival showcases Jharkhand’s rich tribal culture, art, traditions, and heritage. More than 600 artists are participating in the event, presenting a wide range of traditional dance and musical performances over the two-day celebration.
Artists from the Mundari, Kurukh, Santhali, Ho, and Kharia tribal communities are performing their traditional cultural programs. In addition, folk dance and music performances in Panchpargania, Kurmali, Nagpuri, and Khortha languages are also being organized.
The festival features stalls displaying traditional tribal cuisine, ethnic attire, handicrafts, and indigenous art. Visitors can also explore a tribal literature book fair, film and documentary screenings, fashion shows, and several other cultural attractions.
A drone show scheduled for the evening is expected to be one of the festival’s major highlights. The event will conclude on August 10 at 4:30 p.m.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Hemant Soren said that the Tribal Festival is not only a celebration of culture and tradition but also a reaffirmation of the tribal community’s identity, existence, and rights. He emphasized the importance of protecting the tribal connection with water, forests, and land for future generations.
