Jharkhand’s Economy, Education, and Sports Growth: CM Hemant Soren

Jharkhand News : On Tuesday, a 17-member delegation from the National Defence College (NDC) met with Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren at the CM’s official residence in Kanke Road, Ranchi. The discussion focused on Jharkhand’s natural resources, cultural heritage, and sports achievements.

The Chief Minister highlighted that Jharkhand is rich in minerals and natural resources and its tribal traditions and culture give the state a unique identity. In sports, Jharkhand has gained international recognition, especially in cricket, hockey, and archery. Half of the Indian women’s hockey team, including the captain, comes from Jharkhand. Famous players like MS Dhoni and archery star Deepika Kumari also hail from the state.

Education Reforms: CM Soren said government schools are being upgraded to CM Schools of Excellence, providing education on par with private schools. Under the Guruj Credit Card Scheme, students pursuing higher education can avail loans up to ₹15 lakh without any collateral. The state also operates 10 government medical colleges, several private medical and nursing colleges, and new polytechnic colleges.

Industry and Economy: Jharkhand has a strong industrial and investment history. Major companies like Tata, HEC, and steel and fertilizer industries operate here. The state participated for the first time in the World Economic Forum. CM Soren emphasized Jharkhand’s significant contribution to the national economy, particularly through the railway and mineral sectors.

Tribal and Rural Development: Jharkhand’s tea industry and forest products are largely managed by tribal communities. The government is implementing welfare schemes to protect women, children, and labor rights. The CM Maiya Samman Scheme provides ₹2,500 per month to 53 lakh women, helping them become self-reliant.

The meeting was attended by the Chief Secretary, Additional Chief Secretary (Home), secretaries of industry, women & child development, tourism, arts, culture & sports departments, and military officials from five countries.
