Jharkhand news : In a shocking incident, senior Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader and former Giridih Zila Parishad president Rakesh Kumar Mahato was brutally murdered. His partially burnt body was recovered from a forest area along the Dumri–Phusro road under the Nimiaghat Police Station limits on Wednesday.
The discovery of the body triggered panic and outrage in the region. As news spread, angry locals gathered and blocked the Dumri–Phusro road, demanding the immediate arrest of those responsible for the killing. Traffic on the route remained disrupted for several hours.
Police launch investigation
Police officials rushed to the spot soon after receiving information and secured the area. The body was sent for post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death. At present, the motive behind the murder remains unclear.
Senior police officers said multiple angles are being examined, including political rivalry and personal enmity. Forensic teams have also been involved in collecting evidence from the crime scene.

The murder of Rakesh Kumar Mahato has sent shockwaves through Jharkhand’s political circles, especially within the JMM. Party leaders and supporters have condemned the killing and demanded a high-level probe.
