Jharkhand News : The Crime Investigation Department (CID) has intensified its investigation into the alleged irregularities in the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) examination. A seven-member Special Investigation Team (SIT), headed by ADG Pujya Prakash, is conducting a detailed probe into the case. Meanwhile, the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) has issued a press statement clarifying that TSR Data Processing Pvt. Ltd. (TDPL) had no connection with its five major recruitment examinations.
The CID SIT includes DSP Sarita Murmu, DSP Neha Bala and other senior officers. Investigators have identified around 15 individuals as persons of interest and are questioning them as part of the ongoing investigation.
Key Accused Under CID Remand
The CID is currently interrogating JPSC Deputy Examination Controller Shweta Kumari Gupta, alleged mastermind Abhay Tiwari, the director of TDPL, and two other accused while they are in remand. Investigators are trying to determine who allegedly provided protection for the irregularities and whether other officials were involved.
The agency is also preparing to seek the remand of three arrested TDPL employees—Hemant Verma, Pradeep Kumar Singh and Sanjay Kumar—for further questioning.
Focus on OMR Sheets, Servers and Financial Transactions
The SIT is examining whether any changes were allegedly made to the examination server or OMR answer sheets after the completion of the examination. It is also investigating allegations that candidates may have been promised jobs, question papers or other assistance in exchange for money.
As part of the probe, the CID is scrutinizing the bank accounts of the accused to trace financial transactions and identify the source and purpose of the funds. The functioning of the examination agency and the possible role of officials are also under investigation.
JSSC Clarifies TDPL Was De-Empanelled
Amid the ongoing investigation, JSSC stated that TDPL was de-empanelled from all examination-related work on May 20, 2025, under Office Order No. 131. According to the commission, the agency has not been associated with any JSSC examination or activity since then.
The commission further clarified that TDPL had no role in the following examinations:
- Jharkhand General Graduate Level Combined Competitive Examination-2023
- Jharkhand Technical and Specialized Graduate Level Combined Competitive Examination-2023
- Postgraduate Trained Teacher Competitive Examination-2023
- Jharkhand Field Worker Competitive Examination-2024
- Any future examinations conducted by the commission
JSSC also stated that the requisition for the Jharkhand Forest Guard Competitive Examination has not yet been received by the commission.
Internal Dispute Led to CID Investigation
According to sources, complaints regarding alleged irregularities in JPSC examinations reached the Chief Minister’s Office, prompting the CID investigation.
On June 20, when the results of the Assistant Public Prosecutor Recruitment Examination were to be announced, two JPSC members reportedly refused to sign the results, raising concerns over the functioning of the examination agency.
A similar situation arose in July, when three commission members declined to sign the results of the 14th Combined Competitive Examination. As the internal dispute escalated and reached the Chief Minister’s Office, the CID investigation gathered momentum.
