Jharkhand News : The CID Special Investigation Team (SIT), investigating alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations conducted by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC), has reportedly uncovered several significant leads. Investigators have identified Mithilesh Singh, director of blacklisted examination agencies ‘Webel’ and ‘ICN’, as an alleged key mastermind of the organised network.
CID teams are conducting raids in several cities across different states to trace Mithilesh Singh, who is reportedly absconding. Investigators are also examining his alleged financial and digital network.
Alleged Collection of Rs 12-20 Lakh From Candidates
According to the investigation, Mithilesh allegedly collected between Rs 12 lakh and Rs 20 lakh per candidate on the promise of helping candidates clear JSSC CGL and other major recruitment examinations.
The alleged arrangement was also mentioned in the statement of arrested accused Abhay Tiwari. According to the investigation, Abhay claimed that he paid Mithilesh Rs 12 lakh each for himself, his brother Akshay Tiwari and his wife Sushma Kumari, amounting to a total of Rs 36 lakh, to facilitate their selection.
Digital Manipulation of Examination Portal Under Probe
The investigation has also brought to light alleged methods of digital interference during the conduct of examinations.
According to the probe, unauthorised changes were allegedly made to the back-end software of the examination portal through suspected agencies handling sensitive responsibilities. Investigators have also alleged that candidates’ marks were directly manipulated.
Sumanash Prakash and Rahul Kumar, employees of ICN who were arrested in Delhi, reportedly told investigators that Mithilesh Singh personally handled direct dealings with the commission and officials.
CID Traces Alleged Financial Network
Investigating agencies have alleged that Mithilesh accumulated a benami property network worth more than Rs 300 crore from money allegedly generated through paper leaks and examination irregularities.
The CID investigation has reportedly traced several properties in Delhi, Patna, Ranchi, Mumbai, Pune, Rajasthan and Haryana. These allegedly include land, luxury houses, flats, hotels and commercial properties linked to Mithilesh.
Mithilesh’s Previous Alleged Links to Exam Leaks
Mithilesh, originally from Bhojpur (Ara) in Bihar, is described in the investigation as having previous involvement in examination-related cases across multiple states.
According to the information provided, he has previously been jailed four times in connection with alleged paper leak cases in Bihar, Punjab, Rajasthan and Telangana.
The CID investigation is continuing, and further details about the alleged network and the role of other people are expected to emerge as the probe progresses.
