Koderma: A road accident occurred on Sunday in Koderma Ghat on the Ranchi-Patna main road. Near Ninth Mile under Koderma police station limits, a speeding trailer hit an SUV from behind while attempting to overtake it, after which the trailer went into a deep roadside gorge and three SUV passengers were injured.
The SUV also lost control following the impact and collided with a truck travelling ahead. The injured were identified as Manoj Saw (40), Lakshmi Devi (35) and 13-year-old Sanju Kumari, all residents of Janpur village. They were immediately taken to Koderma Sadar Hospital for treatment.
How Did the Accident Happen?
According to local residents, several people from Janpur village were travelling by SUV to attend a programme in Kauakol in Bihar’s Nawada district.
When the SUV reached near Ninth Mile in Koderma Ghat, a trailer approaching from behind attempted to overtake it. During the manoeuvre, the trailer lost control and crashed into the rear of the SUV.
The impact caused the trailer to go completely out of control and fall into the roadside gorge. The SUV was also pushed forward and collided with a truck. Its front portion was badly damaged in the crash.
Police Reached the Spot
The accident led to confusion and disruption in traffic for some time. The trailer driver and co-driver reportedly fled the spot after the accident.
As soon as the information was received, a Koderma Police PCR team reached the site. With the help of local residents, the injured passengers were taken to Sadar Hospital for treatment.
Search for Trailer Driver and Co-Driver Underway
Police inspected the accident site and began efforts to remove the damaged vehicles. A crane is being used to try to pull the trailer out of the gorge.
Police are also searching for the absconding trailer driver and co-driver. Traffic on the Ranchi-Patna main road was affected for some time following the accident, after which efforts were made to restore normal movement.
