Jharkhand News : Traffic between Jharkhand and Bihar was severely affected on Tuesday morning after a cargo vehicle broke down in the middle of the road at Tara Ghati in Koderma Ghat, under Koderma police station limits. The breakdown led to long queues of vehicles on both sides of the valley, with the jam stretching for around 10 kilometres.
A large number of cargo vehicles, buses, passenger vehicles and smaller vehicles were caught in the congestion. Traffic remained severely affected for nearly four hours, causing considerable inconvenience to passengers and drivers.
Traffic Disrupted for Four Hours
As vehicle pressure increased in the valley, traffic movement slowed considerably. Many passengers and drivers were forced to wait on the road for hours.
After receiving information about the incident, the Koderma Police reached the spot and began efforts to restore traffic movement. Police also worked to remove the disabled cargo vehicle from the road.
Vehicles trapped on both sides of the jam were regulated and allowed to move forward in phases. After considerable efforts, traffic movement was eventually restored to normal.
Koderma Ghat Frequently Witnesses Traffic Jams
Vehicle breakdowns and accidents in Koderma Ghat frequently lead to traffic congestion. Since the valley road is narrow, a large vehicle breaking down on the road quickly results in long queues behind it.
Within a short time, such congestion can extend for several kilometres, causing hours of inconvenience to people travelling between Jharkhand and Bihar.
Demand for Quick Removal of Disabled Vehicles
Local residents and vehicle operators said an effective system is needed to immediately remove large vehicles whenever they break down in the valley.
They said traffic on the important route should not come to a standstill because of a single vehicle breakdown and called for a faster response mechanism.
