Bihar News : The political atmosphere in Bihar has heated up once again after the Nitish Kumar government decided to change the official residence of former Chief Minister and current Leader of Opposition Rabri Devi. For nearly two decades, the Lalu Prasad Yadav family has been residing at the government bungalow located at 10, Circular Road, but now the state government has directed them to shift to 39, Harding Road. The Building Construction Department issued an official notification regarding the relocation on Tuesday.

The decision to vacate the residence after 19–20 years has triggered strong political reactions. Leaders of the RJD have accused the government of targeting the opposition, while Lalu Prasad Yadav’s daughter Rohini Acharya, who recently quit the party, also expressed her anger on social media.

Taking to her X handle, she wrote:
“This is the model of good governance? The first priority is to insult Lalu Prasad Yadav, the leader loved by millions. You may remove him from the house, but how will you remove him from the hearts of the people of Bihar?”
She added that the government should at least respect her father’s ill health and his towering political stature.

Political Significance of 10 Circular Road

For the Rashtriya Janata Dal, 10 Circular Road has been more than just a government residence. Since 2005, it has functioned as the nerve centre of RJD politics. Key political meetings, ticket distribution discussions, strategy sessions, and major decisions were all taken within this bungalow. Over time, it evolved into a political “power centre” for the party.

This is why the opposition considers the government’s decision to vacate the bungalow as a politically motivated move rather than an administrative one. RJD leaders allege that the action is intended to weaken the opposition and curb political influence.

Meanwhile, the Lalu family is preparing to relocate to 39 Harding Road, but the controversy has intensified the political climate in Bihar. Observers believe that this issue will continue to spark debates and reactions in the coming days as the ruling and opposition parties face off yet again.
