Major Accident Averted as Part of Four-Storey Building Collapses in Bokaro

Jharkhand News : A major accident was narrowly avoided late Saturday night when a portion of a four-storey building in the Hindustan Steel Construction Limited (HSCL) Colony, located in Sector 1B of Bokaro, suddenly collapsed. Fortunately, all residents managed to evacuate in time, preventing any casualties.

The incident occurred between house numbers 351 and 366, where the rear section of an old and dilapidated building gave way, causing panic among residents. A loud crashing sound alerted nearby locals, prompting them to rush out of their homes. A large crowd gathered at the scene shortly after.

Authorities including the City Police Station, Municipal Corporation, and Civil Defense teams responded promptly. The affected area has been sealed off and nearby houses evacuated as a precautionary measure.

Several families spent the night in an open field as many of their belongings were buried under the debris. Relief efforts and debris clearance operations have been initiated.

Dhanbad MP Dhullu Mahto visited the site and interacted with the affected families. He urged the district administration to arrange temporary shelters at the Town Hall. Mahto also criticized the management for ignoring repeated complaints regarding the deteriorating condition of the colony.

According to preliminary findings by the city police, the collapse was likely caused by excessive moisture in the walls and overall structural weakness due to prolonged neglect.
