Jharkhand News : Security forces and the Latehar Police have foiled a major Naxal plot during a joint operation in Jharkhand. Acting on a confidential tip received by SP Kumar Gaurav, the teams launched a search in the Serenadag forest under the Herhanj police station area and recovered a 5-kg cylinder bomb hidden by Naxals.
Officials said timely action prevented a major incident. After the bomb was detected, the bomb disposal squad was immediately informed. The squad reached the spot and safely defused the cylinder bomb, averting any potential harm.
According to authorities, the explosive device was planted with the intention of targeting security forces’ patrol teams operating in the area. The police said vigilance has been increased and search operations will continue to ensure the region remains secure.
Notably, Naxal activities in Latehar district have reportedly declined over the past few months due to sustained pressure by security forces. Officials believe the extremists are under stress and are attempting to survive by operating in hiding.
