Man Arrested in Koderma for Allegedly Sexually Exploiting Woman on False Promise of Marriage, Cheating Her of ₹2 Lakh

Jharkhand News : A team of the West Bengal Police arrested a 24-year-old man from Moriyama village under Tilaiya police station limits in Jharkhand’s Koderma district for allegedly sexually exploiting a woman on the false promise of marriage and cheating her of ₹2 lakh.

The accused has been identified as Vishal Rana, son of Ajay Rana, a resident of Moriyama village.

According to the police, Vishal came into contact with a woman from Purba Bardhaman district in West Bengal through social media about two years ago. As their friendship grew, the two reportedly entered into a romantic relationship, and Vishal allegedly met the woman on several occasions.

According to the complainant, Vishal repeatedly sought financial help, claiming that his family members were ill, and allegedly took around ₹2 lakh from her at different times. She alleged that after receiving the money, he stopped communicating with her and refused to marry her.

Based on the woman’s complaint, a case was registered at Bardhaman Police Station against Vishal Rana on charges of sexual exploitation on the false promise of marriage and cheating.

During the investigation, a team from Bardhaman Police reached Koderma on Saturday. After informing the Tilaiya Police Station, the team conducted a late-night raid at the accused’s residence in Moriyama village and arrested him.

After completing the required legal formalities, the West Bengal Police took the accused to Bardhaman for further investigation. Tilaiya Police said on Sunday that the local police station had been duly informed about the arrest, and all further legal proceedings in the case will be carried out by the Bardhaman Police.
