Jharkhand News : Three bike-borne assailants opened fire on Shankar Beldar, husband of the Mandra Panchayat Mukhiya, near Dumra under Baghmara police station area on Monday. The attackers fired three rounds at close range, leaving him critically injured.
According to eyewitnesses, Beldar sustained two bullet injuries in his leg and one in the waist. Supporters rushed him to a private hospital in Dhanbad, where he is currently undergoing treatment.
Sources said Beldar, apart from being the husband of the elected Panchayat head, is also involved in the coal trade. Police have launched an investigation and are conducting raids to track down the perpetrators.
