Ranchi: Separate maternal and child hospitals will be established in all 81 Assembly constituencies of Jharkhand, with the state government planning a total capacity of around 4,050 beds.
Under the proposed plan, each hospital will have 50 beds. Jharkhand Health Department Additional Chief Secretary Ajay Kumar Singh shared details of the initiative and said that construction work would begin soon.
The proposed hospitals will provide comprehensive healthcare services for pregnant women, including pre-delivery check-ups, childbirth and post-delivery care. Treatment for other health-related problems among women will also be available.
Separate medical facilities will also be provided for newborns and children.
At present, several Community Health Centres face shortages of doctors and hospital beds, forcing patients to travel to district hospitals or larger medical colleges for treatment. The new hospitals are expected to reduce this burden to a considerable extent.
Hospitals to Be Linked With District Facilities
The proposed maternal and child hospitals will be connected with nearby district hospitals to ensure that patients requiring advanced or emergency treatment can be referred quickly.
The arrangement is expected to make the referral process faster and more efficient, particularly in serious medical cases.
Major Relief for Women in Rural Areas
The initiative is expected to benefit pregnant women living in villages and remote areas. At present, many women have to travel to district headquarters even for routine medical examinations.
With hospitals available in every Assembly constituency, access to maternal healthcare services is expected to improve significantly.
The separate child healthcare facilities will also help in the early detection and treatment of illnesses among newborns and children, potentially saving families both time and money.
