Jharkhand News : Jharkhand Police continued its crackdown on the notorious Prince Khan gang as a joint team from Ranchi, Ramgarh, and Dhanbad engaged in an encounter with a wanted criminal early Monday morning. During the exchange of fire, Shivraj alias Shiva Dom, a key operative linked to the Prince Khan gang, sustained a bullet injury to his leg.
The injured accused was immediately taken to CCL Hospital in Bhurkunda for treatment. Police recovered two illegal pistols, around 60 live cartridges, and other incriminating materials from his possession.
Joint Operation Launched Following Intelligence Input
According to police, they had received specific intelligence that Shivraj, son of Bihari Ram and a resident of Sayal under Bhurkunda OP in Patratu, Ramgarh district, was planning to execute a major crime in Ranchi or Dhanbad.
Based on the information, a joint team of Ranchi, Ramgarh, and Dhanbad police launched an operation and apprehended the accused.
Opened Fire During Weapon Recovery
During interrogation, Shivraj confessed that he had hidden two illegal firearms. At around 4:40 a.m. on Monday, the police team took him to BTTI Kendriya Vidyalaya, Riverside, to recover the weapons based on his disclosure.
Police said that after leading officers to one of the concealed weapons, Shivraj suddenly pulled out the second pistol and opened fire at the police team with the intention of escaping. The police retaliated in self-defence, during which Shivraj was shot in his right leg and overpowered.
Links With Multiple Criminal Gangs
Police records describe Shivraj alias Shiva Dom as a hardened criminal with a long history of involvement in organized crime. He had earlier worked for the notorious Aman Srivastava gang and later joined the Rahul Dubey gang. He has previously been jailed in connection with several criminal cases linked to these gangs.
Intelligence agencies believe that he was recently working for the Prince Khan gang and was allegedly plotting a major crime in the coal belt or the state capital on the gang’s instructions.
Illegal Arms and Ammunition Seized
Following the encounter, police seized one 9 mm pistol, one 7.65 mm pistol, approximately 60 live cartridges, and other materials from the accused. Investigators are now probing his network and conducting raids to identify and arrest other members of the gang.
