- Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar Inaugurates Advanced Surgical Facility in Ranchi
Jharkhand News : Paras HEC Hospital, Ranchi, has launched Jharkhand’s first Robotic-Assisted Surgery Programme, marking a major milestone in the state’s healthcare sector. The programme was inaugurated by Jharkhand Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar.
With the introduction of this advanced technology, patients from Jharkhand will no longer need to travel to other states for robotic-assisted surgical procedures. The Governor described the initiative as an important step towards expanding modern and advanced healthcare services in the state.
Speaking at the inauguration, Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar said the integration of advanced technology into healthcare can help provide patients with more precise, safe and quality treatment.
He said robotic surgery is an excellent example of technological advancement in medical science and can assist surgeons in performing complex procedures with greater precision. Depending on the procedure and patient, robotic-assisted surgery may offer benefits such as smaller incisions, reduced pain and faster recovery.
The Governor expressed confidence that the new facility would enable patients in Jharkhand to access advanced surgical services within the state.
He also emphasized the need to develop Jharkhand into a major healthcare destination so that residents do not have to travel outside the state for advanced treatment. He said the state’s healthcare infrastructure should be strengthened to such an extent that patients from other parts of the country also come to Jharkhand for quality medical care.
Robotic Surgery Available Across Multiple Specialities
Paras Health Managing Director Dharmendra Nagar said this is Jharkhand’s first Robotic-Assisted Surgery Programme. He said the advanced robotic system can be used for procedures across several specialities, including:
- General Surgery
- Gynaecology
- Urology
- Surgical Oncology
- Orthopaedics
According to Nagar, the system is designed to assist doctors in performing complex procedures with greater precision and through smaller incisions. Depending on the type of surgery, patients may benefit from reduced pain and blood loss, a lower risk of infection and faster recovery.
He said patients from Jharkhand previously had to travel to cities such as Delhi, Kolkata and Hyderabad for robotic-assisted surgery. With the new programme, patients can now access such advanced surgical technology in Ranchi, potentially saving both time and travel expenses.
Focus on Advanced Healthcare in Jharkhand
Paras HEC Hospital Facility Director Dr Nitesh Kumar said Paras Health has consistently worked towards making advanced medical facilities accessible to people in Jharkhand.
He described the launch of the robotic-assisted surgery programme as a significant step in this direction. According to him, the technology will enable complex surgeries to be performed with greater precision and may help reduce hospital stays and support faster recovery, depending on the procedure.
Several doctors, including Dr Amarendra Kumar, Dr Abhinav Shekhar, Dr Preeti Singh and Dr Amit Kumar, along with other hospital officials and medical professionals, were present at the inauguration ceremony.
