Politics Over Health Is Painful, All Parties Support RIMS-2: Irfan Ansari

Jharkhand News : Jharkhand Health Minister Dr. Irfan Ansari has expressed deep anguish over the politicization of healthcare issues and appealed to all political parties, including the opposition, to rise above politics in matters related to public health. He urged collective support for the construction of Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences-2 (RIMS-2) to strengthen the state’s healthcare infrastructure.

In a press release issued on Wednesday, the Health Minister said that an important governing body meeting was held at RIMS, Ranchi, focusing on continuous improvement of government health services and formulating a concrete strategy to meet future challenges. During the meeting, it was discussed that the number of patients at RIMS is steadily increasing, making effective patient flow management a critical priority to ensure smooth and timely treatment.

Dr. Ansari stated that public trust in the government healthcare system has grown significantly, which is reflected in the unprecedented number of patients seeking treatment at RIMS. He emphasized that his primary objective is to ensure quality treatment for every patient. To achieve this, the department is adopting modern medical technologies, recruiting doctors, strengthening pathology laboratories, and addressing the needs of nursing staff, manpower, and other healthcare workers.

Responding to political questions surrounding the construction of RIMS-2, the Health Minister clarified that he has no personal interest, no intention to acquire anyone’s land, and no political ambition behind the project. He appealed to opposition leaders to cooperate in the construction of RIMS-2 so that financial constraints never become a barrier to healthcare delivery.

Making an emotional appeal, Dr. Ansari highlighted that many patients from Jharkhand are still forced to travel to other states for advanced treatment, often spending huge amounts of money. In several cases, despite costly treatment, lives cannot be saved, and families are compelled to perform the last rites of their loved ones outside the state, which is extremely painful and distressing.

“I humbly request all leaders to support the construction of RIMS-2 so that we can save lakhs of lives and provide better, accessible, and dignified healthcare facilities to the people of Jharkhand,” he said.

He concluded by urging all political parties to keep healthcare above politics and unite in this humanitarian effort to protect lives and strengthen the state’s medical system.
