Prepare Complete Data of Migrant Workers Within 3 Months: CM

Jharkhand News : Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Thursday directed officials to prepare a comprehensive database of migrant, unorganized and construction workers from the state within the next three months. He instructed the Labour Department to ensure that detailed information on the number of Jharkhand workers employed in different states and the nature of their work is available on a dedicated portal.

During a high-level review meeting of the Labour, Employment, Training and Skill Development Department and the Planning and Development Department at the Jharkhand Ministry, the Chief Minister reviewed employment generation programmes, skill development initiatives, labour welfare schemes and departmental performance.

Soren emphasized expanding employment and self-employment opportunities for youth, modernizing skill training programmes and ensuring that trained candidates are effectively linked with jobs. He also directed officials to accelerate the registration of workers on the e-Shram portal and ensure timely delivery of social security and welfare benefits.

Officials informed the meeting that migrant assistance centres will be established in Noida, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bengaluru and Mumbai under the Jharkhand Migrant Assistance Scheme to support workers employed outside the state.

The Chief Minister also called for faster labour registration drives, mapping and tracking of migrant workers, and the inclusion of MGNREGA workers in the registration process. Stressing workplace safety, he directed the department to provide safety kits, helmets, gloves and protective footwear to workers and ensure that construction sites comply with safety standards.

Soren further instructed officials to identify labour congregation points and develop them into labour facilitation centres equipped with basic amenities. He emphasized the need to reduce distress migration and formulate policies that help workers become self-reliant while strengthening the state’s employment ecosystem.
