Ramgarh Engineering College Organises SIR Awareness Programme

Jharkhand News : Ramgarh Engineering College (REC), Murubanda, Ramgarh, organised an Awareness Programme on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the Electoral Roll, 2026, through its NSS Unit, with the objective of sensitising students about electoral awareness, accurate electoral records and responsible participation in the democratic process. Approximately 100 students participated enthusiastically in the programme. The event was attended by officials from the Election Commission of India (ECI), Ramgarh, including Rupesh Upadhyay, Anuj Kumar, Pradip Kumar and Arvind Kumar, who briefed the students about the significance of SIR and explained the procedures related to verification of electoral details, correction of discrepancies and other relevant aspects of electoral-roll revision.

Addressing the gathering, Principal Dr. Sharbani Roy welcomed the visiting ECI officials and appreciated their efforts to create electoral awareness among the young generation. She emphasised that educational institutions have an important role in developing responsible and informed citizens and encouraged students to understand the SIR process carefully, verify their electoral information and disseminate authentic information among their families and communities. Vice Principal Dr. Nazmul Islam highlighted the importance of electoral awareness among young citizens and said that students are important stakeholders in the democratic process. He encouraged them to understand their electoral rights and responsibilities and to share correct information about the SIR process with their families and society.

NSS Coordinator Rupam Kumar Pal expressed his gratitude to the ECI officials for conducting the awareness session at the college and stated that NSS activities aim to develop social responsibility and civic consciousness among students. He appreciated the enthusiastic participation of nearly 100 students and the efforts of the faculty members and NSS volunteers in making the programme successful. The ECI officials also interacted with the students and addressed their queries regarding the SIR process, electoral-roll verification, claims, objections and corrections. Faculty members Ashish Narayan, Arunava Dutta, Pallab Das, Komal Kumari, Trina Nag, Manoj Das and Abhimunya Kumar were present during the programme and extended their support for its successful organisation.

The programme was coordinated by NSS student volunteers, including Swet Kumar Singh, Abdul Barik, Priya Chakraborty and other student volunteers, who played an active role in managing the event and coordinating with the visiting officials and participants. The programme concluded with an appeal to eligible citizens to remain informed, verify their electoral details and contribute to a transparent, inclusive and participatory democratic process. The initiative reflects Ramgarh Engineering College’s commitment to promoting civic awareness, social responsibility, responsible citizenship and democratic values among its students and the wider community.
