Jharkhand News : In a major crackdown on organized crime, Ramgarh police engaged in an early morning encounter with members of a gang allegedly linked to Rahul Dubey. The operation, which took place on Monday, resulted in one criminal being injured and taken into custody, while a police officer also sustained injuries during the exchange of fire.
According to Ramgarh Superintendent of Police Ajay Kumar, the injured accused has been identified as Sunny Singh, a known associate of the Rahul Dubey gang. Singh suffered a bullet injury to his right leg during the encounter and was immediately shifted to Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) for advanced medical treatment. He is reportedly a resident of Religarha in the Giddi थाना area of Hazaribagh district.
The police recovered two pistols, empty cartridges, a bag, and other incriminating materials from the spot, indicating that the criminals were likely planning a serious crime in the region.
The incident occurred near the Do Mohani bridge under the Bhurkunda OP area, where police teams from Patratu, Bhurkunda, and Bhadani Nagar were conducting routine patrols. During the patrol, officers noticed suspicious activity and attempted to intercept the suspects. However, the criminals opened fire on the police vehicle, triggering a retaliatory response from the officers.
In the crossfire, Patratu police station in-charge Shivlal Prasad Gupta sustained injuries. He was provided immediate medical attention and is currently undergoing treatment. Officials have stated that his condition is stable.
Following the encounter, security forces sealed off the entire area and launched an intensive search operation to track down other gang members who managed to escape. The police have also initiated a detailed investigation into the incident to uncover further links and prevent future criminal activities.
The latest encounter highlights the increasing pressure being applied by law enforcement agencies on criminal gangs operating in the Ramgarh region. Authorities have reiterated their commitment to maintaining law and order and warned that strict action will continue against those involved in unlawful activities.
