Jharkhand News : The Ranchi Municipal Corporation has intensified action against coaching centres and libraries in the city over student safety and compliance with building regulations. The civic body’s Town Planning Branch issued notices to 20 coaching centres and libraries on Tuesday.
The corporation will examine the legality of the buildings, their approved usage, trade licences, required permissions and fire safety arrangements. The action is being taken in light of a decision passed by the Supreme Court.
Civic Body to Check Approved Use of Buildings
The Ranchi Municipal Corporation will also verify whether the buildings housing coaching centres and libraries are being used according to their approved building plans.
If residential buildings are found to be used for commercial activities without proper approval, action will be taken as per the rules. The corporation said action would also be initiated against institutions operating in buildings without approved plans, valid trade licences or necessary permissions.
Fire NOC and Emergency Exits to Be Inspected
Since a large number of students remain present at coaching centres and libraries, fire safety has been made an important part of the inspection process.
Officials will examine Fire NOCs, firefighting equipment, emergency evacuation routes and other prescribed safety standards. If deficiencies are found, action will be taken against the concerned institution and building as per the rules.
These Institutions Have Received Notices
Among the institutions served notices are Newton Tutorial, Samarth Academy and FIITJEE, located at Hari Om Tower in Lalpur.
Notices have also been issued to Vision IAS, Eternal Career Classes, CAD Design School, Sky Tech Aviation, Mentors EduServe, KD Library and Bhawar Rathore Design Studio, operating from Lee Desire Complex.
Institutions under scrutiny on East Jail Road include VMS Library, Prerna Institute, Insight Library, Prasad and Vinayaka Library, Meta Vision Academy, Perfect Tutorial, Excel NC IAS, Kiran Academy and Exam Fighter. An institution located in Thadpakna has also been brought under the ambit of the action.
Bhavishya Bharti, located on Circular Road, has also been issued a notice.
Institutions May Be Closed or Sealed
The Ranchi Municipal Corporation has made it clear that negligence in matters related to student safety will not be tolerated.
If violations are found during the inspection and the identified deficiencies are not rectified despite being given the prescribed opportunity, the concerned institution or building may be closed or sealed.
