Jharkhand News : A major controversy has erupted at Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences in Ranchi over the appointment of a Senior Resident/Tutor. The issue gained attention after Rishabh Kumar, son of RIMS Director Dr. Rajkumar, was selected for the post, raising concerns about transparency and fairness in the recruitment process.

The interview for the position was conducted on March 28, following which Rishabh Kumar was selected. As per the appointment terms, he was to be posted for a period of three years with a monthly salary of approximately ₹1.25 lakh.
However, soon after the selection, allegations of irregularities and rule violations surfaced. Taking serious note of the matter, the state health department has put the appointment on hold and ordered a high-level inquiry into the entire recruitment process.
The controversy primarily revolves around the transfer of a Senior Resident seat from the Anatomy department to the Masters in Hospital Administration (MHA) department. Reports suggest that the MHA department already had two Senior Resident positions filled and no unreserved seat was available. Despite this, the seat was allegedly shifted from Anatomy to facilitate a new appointment, raising questions about procedural violations.
Further concerns have been raised over the recognition status of the MHA department. It is being reported that the department is not recognized by the National Medical Commission, while the Anatomy department operates strictly under its guidelines. This has intensified scrutiny over the legitimacy of the seat transfer and subsequent appointment.
Another major allegation is that the eligibility criteria mentioned in the recruitment advertisement were tailored in a way that only Rishabh Kumar met them. Other candidates from the same academic batch reportedly did not qualify under those conditions, leading to doubts about the fairness and impartiality of the selection process.
Given the seriousness of the allegations, the health department has stated that further action will depend on the findings of the inquiry. If irregularities are confirmed, the appointment may be cancelled and the matter could be referred to the governing council for further decision-making.
Meanwhile, Dr. Rajkumar has denied all allegations of favoritism. He clarified that he was neither part of the interview panel nor involved in the selection committee. Defending his son’s credentials, he stated that Rishabh Kumar has strong academic achievements and several published research papers.
The outcome of the investigation is now awaited, as the case continues to spark debate over transparency and accountability in public sector recruitments.
