Jharkhand News : A ‘Selfie with Bag’ campaign was organised on Tuesday at Saraswati Vidya Mandir, Rajrappa Project, as part of an anti-polythene drive aimed at promoting environmental protection and strengthening the message of a clean India.
As many as 875 students participated in the initiative by bringing cloth bags made by themselves to school and taking selfies with them to spread awareness about reducing plastic and polythene use. Students, along with teachers, also took a collective pledge to avoid plastic and polythene and make the use of reusable cloth bags a part of their daily lives.
Campaign patron Upendra Pandey, Principal Umesh Prasad, Amit Kumar and other teachers and staff members were present during the programme. They encouraged the students and called for making environmental protection a people’s movement.
Addressing the gathering, Upendra Pandey said the increasing use of polythene poses a serious threat to the environment, water sources, animals, birds and human health. He stressed that developing the habit of carrying a cloth bag could significantly reduce the use of polythene.
Principal Umesh Prasad said environmental protection should not be limited to a one-day programme but should become the daily responsibility of every citizen. He urged students to inspire their families, neighbours and acquaintances to replace plastic bags with cloth and other eco-friendly alternatives.
The students enthusiastically participated in the ‘Selfie with Bag’ campaign and pledged to spread the message of environmental conservation in society.
