Shriram Power Plant Furnace Blast Injures 9 Workers, 2 Referred to Ranchi

Jharkhand News : Nine workers were injured after a furnace burst at the Shriram Power Plant in the district on Sunday. The incident occurred while sponge melting and maintenance work was underway at the plant. Molten iron fell directly on the workers, leaving two of them with burns covering more than 90 percent of their bodies. They were referred to Ranchi for treatment, while seven other injured workers are being treated at Hope Hospital on Ranchi Road.

How Did the Accident Happen?

According to information, sponge melting and maintenance work was being carried out at Shriram Power Plant on Sunday. During the work, the furnace suddenly burst, causing molten iron to fall on workers present at the site.

Two workers suffered burns covering more than 90 percent of their bodies. Three workers sustained burns of up to 40 percent, while the condition of four other workers is reported to be stable.

What Did the Police Say?

Confirming the incident, Kujju OP in-charge Ashutosh Kumar said that information about the incident had been received and that an investigation was underway. The injured workers are currently undergoing treatment at hospitals.

Who Are Among the Injured?

Several workers were present at the Shriram Power Plant when the accident occurred. The injured include Vijay Yadav, Rajendra Mahto, Parmeshwar Mahto, Kunjlal, Ramesh Kumar, Ritesh Kumar, Sanjay Kumar, Dhananjay Singh and Monu Kumar, among others.

Following the incident, the injured workers were taken to hospital for treatment. Seven workers are being treated at Hope Hospital on Ranchi Road, while two seriously injured workers have been referred to Ranchi.
