Jharkhand News : Opposition’s Vice Presidential candidate, Justice (Retd.) B. Sudarshan Reddy, has appealed to all Members of Parliament for their support, emphasizing the need to uphold the dignity of the election and the Constitution.
Speaking at a press conference at Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s official residence on Saturday, Justice Reddy said, “I have been defending the Constitution for over 45 years. In light of the current atmosphere in the country, my conscience compelled me to accept the nomination.”
He met CM Hemant Soren and sought his backing, noting that the preamble is the soul of the Constitution. He also expressed concern over the misuse of constitutional institutions, referencing the arrest of Hemant Soren despite the court dismissing charges against him.
Justice Reddy added that he has written to all Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha members, and may also reach out to BJP leaders. He paid tribute to Dishom Guru Shibu Soren for his pivotal role in Jharkhand’s formation.
CM Hemant Soren confirmed a strategic discussion took place regarding ensuring Reddy’s win. The Vice Presidential election is scheduled for September 9.
