Jharkhand News : The Deputy Commissioner of Palamu, Dilip Pratap Singh Shekhawat, is actively inspecting block and circle offices to streamline administrative functioning. As part of this drive, he conducted a surprise inspection of the Satbarwa block on Saturday, where several serious irregularities came to light.
During the inspection, the Circle Officer (CO)-cum-Block Development Officer (BDO) was found absent from duty. Expressing displeasure, the Deputy Commissioner questioned the staff present. When asked, a clerk informed him that the officer was on the way to the office.
However, when the Deputy Commissioner personally contacted the CO-cum-BDO over the phone, the officer stated that he was on leave. Angered by the contradictory information, the Deputy Commissioner immediately ordered a show-cause notice to be issued to the officer and directed the suspension of the clerk for providing false information.
The Deputy Commissioner also reprimanded several employees who reported late to the office. He issued a stern warning, stating that employees must improve their work culture or be prepared to face strict action. He emphasized that officials and staff would be held accountable if the public faced inconvenience in accessing government services.
During the inspection, multiple shortcomings were identified in office functioning. The Deputy Commissioner directed that these issues be addressed immediately. He also instructed that a security guard be posted at the office entrance to prevent unauthorized entry.
Addressing the growing drinking water crisis amid intense heat, he said that old water supply schemes across the district, including Satbarwa block, would be reviewed and repaired as needed.
Following this, the Deputy Commissioner inspected the Satbarwa Community Health Centre, where he got his blood sugar tested by a lab technician and reviewed healthcare services.
He also visited the Girls’ High School in Satbarwa, interacted with Class 10 students, and inquired about their studies and school facilities. Additionally, he inspected the school kitchen and toilets and issued necessary instructions.
