Jharkhand: Security forces gunned down three militants of the Jharkhand Jan Mukti Parishad (JJMP) in an encounter on Wednesday morning in Kechki forest under Bishunpur police station area of Gumla district.
The deceased were identified as Lalu Lohra of Senha (Lohardaga), Sujit Oraon, and Chhotu Oraon of Hosir (Latehar). Sub-zonal commander Lalu Lohra and sub-commander Chhotu Oraon carried a bounty of ₹5 lakh each.
Superintendent of Police Harish Bin Jaman confirmed the encounter and said three weapons were recovered from the site, including an AK-56 rifle, an SLR, and an INSAS rifle.
The operation was launched after inputs suggested that JJMP cadres had gathered in Bishunpur area to plan a major attack. Acting on the intelligence, a joint team of Jharkhand Jaguar and Gumla district police conducted a search operation. On reaching Kechki forest, the militants opened fire, prompting retaliation by the forces. In the exchange, three militants were killed and one was arrested.
Search operations are still underway in the area.
