The escaped prisoners are reportedly residents of Dhanbad district. Jail Superintendent Chandrashekhar Suman confirmed the incident, stating that a preliminary inquiry has verified that three inmates successfully managed to flee the prison premises.

However, it is yet to be ascertained whether the escaped prisoners were convicts or undertrial inmates, and details regarding the criminal cases against them have not been officially disclosed by the jail administration.

Security Lapses Under Scanner

The Lok Nayak Jayaprakash Narayan Central Jail is considered one of the most secure prisons in Jharkhand, housing hardcore criminals, Naxalites, and several high-profile undertrial prisoners. The escape of three inmates from such a high-security facility has raised serious questions over the effectiveness of the prison’s security arrangements.

Following the incident, an intensive security review has been initiated inside the jail. All wards are being thoroughly inspected to determine how and from where the prisoners managed to escape. Authorities have not ruled out the possibility of negligence or security lapses at this preliminary stage.

Search Operations Intensified

Security has been tightened within and around the jail premises. Joint teams of the police and prison administration have launched extensive search operations to trace the fugitives. Raids are being conducted at suspected hideouts, and all districts across Jharkhand have been placed on high alert.

According to official sources, the Inspector General of Prisons is expected to arrive in Hazaribagh soon to personally review the incident. A detailed inquiry will be conducted, and responsibility will be fixed for any lapses found. Strict disciplinary action has been assured against officials or staff found guilty after the investigation.
