Jharkhand News : The Department of Neurosurgery at Tata Main Hospital (TMH) successfully conducted a Continuing Medical Education (CME) programme and a hands-on workshop on “Endovascular Management of Neurovascular Pathologies: A Practical Approach” on July 18, bringing together healthcare professionals to discuss the latest advancements in the minimally invasive treatment of complex neurovascular disorders.
The programme was inaugurated by Dr Vinita Singh, General Manager, Medical Services, in the presence of senior hospital officials, including Dr Ashok Sunder, Chief of Medical Indoor Services; Dr Mamta Rath Dutta, Chief of Medical Support Services; and Dr Jeevesh Mallik, Head of the Department of Neurosurgery. Department heads, consultants, faculty members and healthcare professionals from TMH also attended the event.
The keynote sessions and hands-on workshop were led by renowned neuro-intervention specialist Dr Peeyush Tomar from New Delhi. Through interactive lectures and live practical demonstrations, participants gained insights into the latest techniques and technologies used in the endovascular treatment of neurovascular diseases.
The CME highlighted the expanding role of endovascular interventions in managing conditions such as intracranial aneurysms, acute ischemic stroke, arteriovenous malformations (AVMs), and dural and spinal arteriovenous fistulas (AVFs). Experts emphasized the importance of early diagnosis, timely referral, multidisciplinary collaboration, and evidence-based treatment to improve patient outcomes and enhance the quality of care.
During the hands-on workshop, participants received practical training on a range of endovascular devices and procedures. The sessions covered procedure planning, catheter and guidewire handling, and simulation-based techniques, enabling doctors to strengthen their skills in modern neuro-interventional practices under expert supervision.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from the medical community, with more than 70 doctors attending the CME programme and 40 doctors participating in the hands-on workshop, representing multiple medical specialties.
TMH said that through such academic initiatives, the hospital remains committed to strengthening medical education, promoting knowledge sharing among healthcare professionals, and paving the way for the introduction of advanced endovascular neuro-interventional services in the near future.
