Traffic Diversions in Ranchi for Chhath Festival; Entry Ban on Heavy Vehicles

Jharkhand News : In view of the upcoming Chhath Mahaparv, Ranchi Police has announced major changes in the city’s traffic plan for October 27 and 28. Special arrangements have been made to ensure smooth movement of devotees heading towards various ghats and ponds across the city.

On Kanke Road, one lane from Ram Mandir to Chandani Chowk has been kept free for Chhath devotees. The road has been divided into two sections with ropes — one exclusively reserved for pedestrians performing Chhath rituals. Similarly, vehicle entry on Chadri Road has been completely restricted.

Vehicles coming from the Main Road side will not be allowed to move towards the pond from Albert Ekka Chowk, while those coming via Circular Road will not be permitted to proceed towards Chadri Talab from Jail More. These routes will remain open only for devotees on foot.

Vehicle Entry Restrictions

Traffic SP Rakesh Singh said that special arrangements have been made to ensure that devotees reaching Bada Talab and other ponds do not face any inconvenience. Vehicle movement on approach roads to the ghats has been completely restricted. Devotees can only reach the ponds on foot.

Private Vehicle Access Limits

  • Vehicles from Main Road can go only up to Shaheed Chowk towards Chadri Talab.

  • Vehicles from Kutchery or Karamtoli towards Chadri Talab can go only up to Jail More.

  • Vehicles from Ratu Road towards Kanke Dam can go up to Ram Mandir Chowk.

  • Vehicles from Kanke or Bodeya towards Kanke Dam can go up to Chandani Chowk.

No-Entry for Heavy Vehicles

To ensure smooth movement for devotees, the entry of goods vehicles into the city will be banned from 8 AM to 11 PM on Monday (October 27) and from 2 AM to 10 AM on Tuesday (October 28).
Heavy vehicles will be allowed to use the Ring Road to reach their destinations. Traffic police personnel will keep strict vigil during this period.
